With excitement I was all perked up to catch up with my Indieweb fellas online as they hosted the Indie Web Camp in Dusseldorf and they also allowed remote participants - I was all in!

It started around 10:30 am Germany Time and I was able to wrap up my lunch and get started with it. I could hear chatter happening around with a zest of flavourful Deutsch while I joined the zoom meeting and there were many fellas I came across on mastodon who made an appearance.

Eventually, the main folks striked the introduction, showcased their respective websites with sheer excitement and mentioned what they are looking forward to etc, there were folks who straight up were clear they didn't had an website and might make it soon and there was this fella who had a domain taken for his family name website and that made me smile ear to ear as well.

Then all the remote participants joined in to introduce their sites etc and we could hear the thunder of applause -!post each showcase that my eardrums won't ever forget. Loud and clear! With earphones on & with the intention of not missing a word, applause was crisp & solid 100%. I love the excitement the community built up there and opened the stage for everyone - no matter how many years of experience you have regarding all this. I really appreciate that about the Indieweb Community. Even thou' I was oceans apart I didn't felt as if I am really away, I really felt present with them in a room. Eventually, there was discussion regarding sessions where everyone got an opportunity to pitch their respective session ideas and there was a mini break around which I also had my tea time - I turned on the camera and mentioned - "Guys you are having a nice fresh donut and I am joining you with my afternoon tea!" To get the remote participants coming in - it needs a good infrastructure & I really applaud everyone who made this a seamless process. I was able to join the session on AI; on Feeds and later I also joined a session regarding database..All were quite insightful for sure! There were great folks on call who were great company to talk with around topics such as music, storage, electronics and accessories etc. And ofcourse, my evening began while Morgan virtually showed the sun rising from the Pacific. I loved it & we all loved it! And that's the wrap for DAY 1! IndieWeb Camp 2026
